“There is a reason for “equitation skills”, and it is not to look pretty. Equitation is about the PHYSICS of THRUST and SPEED and BALANCE and MOTION, and how the human body either gets in the way of the horse as he does his job, or gets out of the way so he can function.”
— Denny Emerson
Equitation Training Coaching and Instruction is essential for safety and advancement in the sport. At Segebade Equestrian, beginners will learn the fundamentals of riding and horsemanship, while more advanced riders receive National level coaching and training for success in the show ring.
Discipline and dedication. Confidence and compassion. Competition and commitment. Kindness and respect. These are the values and teachings at Segebade Equestrian.

A Look Inside the world of competitive riding
Every rider is unique. At Segebade Equestrian, students are encouraged to pursue their individual riding goals.
As students learn, grow and advance, many develop an interest in the show ring. Here, students can test their proficiency of hunter seat equitation. Shows may be held at a local or national level. Discuss your competition goals with Leslie.
Quality hunter seat instruction and practice are the keys to building a strong foundation for success in the show ring. Leslie can prepare you and/or your horse for competition. She is also available as a rider and to show your horse in competitions.
